Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job during Corcoran's early years. The family depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as one who often drank too much and was rude to her mother and contempt, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she discovered later she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
